Underwriter

Healthcare & Senior Living Group Analyst/Underwriter

Underwriter will provide extraordinary service to external lenders, investors, clients by producing detailed, orderly presentations of data, facts, and figures, but also potentially handle a book of business independently.

Main Responsibilities

• Underwrite and assist leadership in placing debt secured by healthcare and senior living properties (skilled nursing, assisted/independent living, etc.) by underwriting facilities and summarizing financing opportunities into comprehensive offering memorandums
• Evaluate loan requests on transactions that span the capital structure
• Create financial models in Excel
• Review and analyze legal documents and third-party reports as part of the due diligence process
• Work closely and confidentially with lenders and borrowers to consult on various loan products and qualification information
• Prepare market analysis reports, including vacancy, absorption, and comparable rents and sales
• Participate in networking through professional, business and community organizations and activities

Requirements and Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a financial analysis role in the healthcare real estate debt industry
• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired
• Self-motivated, team-oriented, with strong attention to detail
• Well organized, with strong time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Exceptional quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Meridian provides a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus and benefits. The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 depending on the individual's experience level, skills and qualifications.
