What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Manager position at JCW Group?
We have partnered with a well-established, institutionally scaled investment platform on a newly created Tax Manager position. You'll be joining a high-performing, 11-person tax team in Connecticut. This is an embedded, high-visibility role working directly with senior tax leadership across a sophisticated private funds platform.
What you'll be doing
- Owning the review of tax compliance across the fund platform — preparation is outsourced, but you'll be the expert in the room signing off on quality and accuracy
- Supporting the funds-side leadership team on tax planning, structuring, and investor reporting across a diverse portfolio of private investment vehicles
- Contributing to real estate fund tax matters — a plus if you have this background, though not a hard requirement
What we're looking for
- Private investment funds experience — this is the core requirement. Partnership tax, fund structures, K-1s, and investor allocations should be second nature
- Strong compliance review skills — comfort owning the review process end-to-end and managing third-party preparers
- Background from a Big 4 or top regional firm, or in-house at an asset manager
- Real estate tax experience is a meaningful plus
- 4-6 years is the sweet spot for this position
