Position Overview
The Distribution Specialist is responsible for supporting the shipping and receiving of company products, along with all related activities including shipment documentation and warehousing services. This role operates under medium-level supervision and requires the ability to independently complete routine distribution tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong time-management and organizational skills, as well as proven expertise in warehousing and transportation management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support campus shipping and receiving operations
- Organize and manage a variety of logistics activities to ensure the seamless execution of product shipments to and from customers, suppliers, manufacturing sites, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs)
- Act as liaison between carriers, 3PLs, suppliers, and manufacturing sites to ensure product shipments are delivered without disruption
- Prepare commercial invoices for international shipments under appropriate supervision
- Execute logistics plans and procedures in support of departmental goals and priorities
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3 years of relevant experience in logistics, distribution, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in transportation and warehouse operations
- Direct experience working with major domestic and international parcel and freight carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL), including working knowledge of carrier-specific software platforms
- International import/export experience, including the ability to create commercial documents for shipments to countries other than the U.S.
- Working knowledge of trade compliance concepts, including exposure to customs classifications such as HTS codes (hands-on classification experience not required, as that review is handled separately)
- Familiarity with logistics and shipment management platforms; demonstrated ability to learn and transfer skills across systems
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization, including internal teams (sales, support, manufacturing, and order management), as well as external carriers and customers

- General experience with ERP systems
- Inventory management experience
