Job Description:

You will join a team of professionals versed in their respective subject matters and together support the client at an environmental remediation site in California. You will assist the client in planning, managing, monitoring, and reviewing remedial actions related to soil and groundwater and facilitate remedy completion. You will support the remedial investigation (RI) and/or remediation of sites to address per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). You will support the integration of the soil and groundwater projects with other projects at the site. You will work closely with the core team, as well as other contractors, various land managers, and regulatory agencies. In doing so, you will exercise professional judgement, consistency and attention to detail to produce high-quality work products and communication.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical support. Provide technical review of and comments on remediation project documents (prepared by others); facilitate comment resolution; and oversee the delivery and distribution of the documents. Use existing site data and records to support document development. Use knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, and standards and policies.
  • Support the client in meeting environmental reporting data calls, draft information papers, and data summaries, and presentations.
  • Provide technical review and support as part of the Five-Year Review process. Activities may include: development and/or coordination of the schedule; review and comment on draft versions of the report; support client and regulatory agency review process and comment resolution; and provide technical review of responses to comments.
  • Provide technical support of environmental due diligence documents such as Environmental Condition of Property (ECP), Finding of Suitability to Transfer (FOST), and Covenant to Restrict Use of Property (CRUP); and work with the stakeholders to reach comment resolution and task completion.
  • Facilitate coordination of the remediation activities with local redevelopment projects in accordance with property deed conditions and notices.
  • Provide technical input to help meet the requirements of CERCLA and Applicable or Relevant and Appropriate Requirements (ARARs). Facilitate actions to support remedy completion and acceptance by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and California Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).
  • Meetings. Provide technical assistance to manage internal meetings and meetings with regulatory agencies. Develop meeting agendas with input from the client and other project leaders; participate in meetings; develop or review meeting summaries; and document, identify and track action items.
  • Community relations support. In coordination with the client and the community outreach office: facilitate or support community outreach actions; coordinate project activities with local government officials, agencies, and others, as appropriate; participate in and provide technical support to community outreach events and associated preparatory meetings; provide technical input to and/or review and comment on fact sheets, newsletters, and public notices; and develop responses to community comments on released documents and notices.
  • Other support. Align work activities appropriately with other related project aspects such as: munitions response and prescribed burn programs. Participate in assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in environmental sciences, environmental management, or engineering sciences. Master's degree preferred, but not required.
  • 5 years of experience in managing and/or supporting an environmental restoration program in combination of (i) review of restoration investigations, studies, decision documents, workplans, etc., (ii) review of land use control implementation plans, (iii) implementation of CERCLA selected remedies including land use controls, (iv) communication and coordination with regulatory agencies, (v) review and editing of 5-year review documents, (vi) assimilation of cost documentation and preparation of summary tables for consumption by federal Project Management, and (vii) monitoring and/or providing gap analysis of environmental restoration program documentation for compliance.
  • Demonstrated competency to perform the job.

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
