Key Responsibilities
- Identify root causes of defects and collaborate with engineering to implement long‑term fixes.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for deviations, non‑conformances, and customer complaints.
- Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities
- Work with management to define and drive initiatives within the department or on cross-functional teams that contribute to continuous quality improvement.
- Partner with engineering, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve and prevent quality issues.
- Conduct inspection of incoming materials, in process components, and finished products.
- Use measurement tools such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, scales, or testing equipment.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and functional checks on parts / equipment according to specifications.
- Verify that products meet company, customer, and regulatory standards/ specifications.
- Record Inspection results accurately in logs, forms, or digital systems.
- Prepare quality reports and communicate findings to supervisors or engineering teams.
- Evaluates and processes returned goods (RMA).
- Perform audits of internal processes and systems to ensure compliance with established quality standards.
- Participant in supplier audits and manage the supplier scorecard to evaluate performance, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.
- Train and mentor junior quality engineers and quality technicians.
- Support new product development by participating in design reviews and providing input on quality-related aspects.
- Develop and implement quality assurance plans and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Ability to read Technical / Blueprints / Engineering / GD&T drawings, Specifications, or Work Instructions.
- Proficient with inspection tools and measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, scales, surface tester, thread gauges, bore gauges, microscope, gauge pins, blocks, and feeler gauges.
- Strong understanding of quality systems, root‑cause analysis, and problem‑solving tools (e.g., 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects.
- Basic understanding of quality control principles.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, databases, and ERP systems.
- Strong knowledge of, such as Six Sigma, Lean, and Statistical Process Control.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Office and Manufacturing Environment
- Occasional Travel may be required to support supplier and customer quality activities.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during inspection, audits, and production floor activities.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move materials, equipment or parts weighing up to 1 – 40 lbs.
- Occasional bending and reaching to access equipment or parts from work areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably in an OEM or manufacturing environment.
- Certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or similar is a plus.
- Familiar with ERP/MRP systems and quality software tools.
- Experience with supplier quality or field service investigations.
- Experience in equipment manufacturing, food processing equipment, or industrial machinery.
