The PMO Intern supports the Project Management Office by assisting with standardized project governance, reporting, and administrative processes. This role focuses on maintaining accurate project data and ensuring adherence to PMO methodologies and documentation standards.
The intern will help update project dashboards, track key milestones and deliverables, coordinate recurring PMO meetings, and maintain centralized documentation. Responsibilities also include supporting status report consolidation, assisting with risk and issue logs, and ensuring data quality across project tracking tools.
This internship provides hands-on exposure to PMO operations, including portfolio reporting, project lifecycle governance, and process standardization. The ideal candidate has previous PMO experience, is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with data, tools, and structured processes in a collaborative environment.

Essential Job Functions
PMO Administration:
- Maintain and update project management information systems and PMO roadmap tracking.
- Assist with the development of standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate and schedule virtual meetings, including preparing agendas and logistics.
- Take notes during meetings and prepare and distribute meeting minutes.
- Ensure project files and shared drives are organized and up to date.
- Contribute to preparation of reports such as project summaries and status updates.
Communications and Business Development Support:
- Coordinate and support PMO stakeholder interviews and focus groups.
- Help collect and document lessons learned and success stories from projects.
- Support internal and external communications for PMO team.
- Assist in preparing and distributing communications using email and collaboration tools.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support development of materials and training content.
Learning & Development Responsibilities:
- Gain exposure to project management methodologies, tools, and PMO practices.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and identify process efficiencies.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Education:
Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business, Project Management, Operations, Finance, or a related field.
Language:
English fluency (oral and written).
Experience:
Prior internship, coursework, or hands-on experience supporting PMO functions such as project tracking, status reporting, meeting coordination, or maintaining project documentation preferred.
Knowledge:
Foundational understanding of PMO practices, including project lifecycle governance, risk and issue tracking, status reporting, and documentation standards preferred.
Soft Skills / Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage structured processes, maintain data accuracy, and follow established PMO standards. Effective communication skills with the ability to support stakeholder reporting and collaborate across teams.
Software Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint) for reporting and analysis; experience with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. Familiarity with PMO and project tracking tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Monday.com, Jira) preferred.
Location:
Remote with the consideration that if a candidate lives within a 50-mile radius of our North Bethesda or San Mateo offices, employment will be considered hybrid.
Physical Requirements:
- Extended Computer Use: Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
- Vision: Must be able to see and read computer screens and printed materials.
- Dexterity: Capable of using hands and fingers to operate equipment and perform tasks requiring precision.
- Communication: Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with team members and stakeholders.
- Mobility: Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, and bend to access office equipment and attend meetings.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances.

- Work Environment: Primarily works in a typical office environment, with exposure to computer screens and moderate noise levels.
