Position Overview

The Specialized Student Support (SST) Department is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behavior Specialist to support students with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, developmental delays, behavioral challenges, and other exceptional learning needs. This position works collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families, and administrators to help students develop communication, social, behavioral, and functional skills that promote success in both the classroom and everyday life.

The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education, relationship building, and using evidence-based behavioral strategies to help students reach their full potential.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group behavioral support.
  • Collect and maintain accurate behavioral data and progress documentation.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support student success.
  • Assist in conducting functional behavior assessments (as applicable).
  • Teach replacement behaviors, communication, emotional regulation, and social skills.
  • Support students during transitions, classroom instruction, playground activities, and community-based learning.
  • Participate in IEP, SST, and multidisciplinary team meetings when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA, HIPAA (when applicable), and school policies.
  • Participate in required trainings and ongoing professional development.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment for every student.

QualificationsFor BCBA Applicants

  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  • Florida licensure or eligibility, if required.
  • Experience working with children with autism and developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

For RBT Applicants

  • Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
  • Active supervision by a BCBA as required by the BACB.
  • Experience working with children in school, clinic, or home settings preferred.
  • Ability to implement behavior plans and collect accurate data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in early childhood or school-based settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and positive behavior supports.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
