The Role

As a Lawn Care Crew Member, you’ll play an important role in maintaining beautiful, healthy lawns and landscapes for our clients.

You’ll work as part of a team performing mowing, trimming, edging, landscaping, cleanup, and other seasonal groundskeeping tasks. As you develop your skills and demonstrate reliability and leadership, you’ll have opportunities to take on more responsibility and move into higher-paying positions.

Lawn care or landscaping experience is a plus, but it is not required. We’re more interested in finding people who are dependable, hardworking, coachable, punctual, and take pride in their work.

Client Professionalism

Our team members represent Jay’s Lawn Care every time they pull into a client’s property.

We expect everyone to:

• Be mindful of gates, vehicles, outdoor furniture, landscaping, pets, and other property features

• Avoid inappropriate language, behavior, or conversations around clients

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns efficiently and to a high standard
• Perform trimming, edging, blowing, and property cleanup
• Assist with landscape installation and maintenance projects
• Plant, prune, mulch, and maintain plants, trees, and shrubs
• Assist with fertilization and weed-control applications as appropriate
• Operate mowers, trimmers, blowers, hand tools, and other landscaping equipment safely
• Assist with irrigation maintenance and troubleshooting
• Identify common plants, trees, shrubs, and lawn issues
• Perform seasonal groundskeeping duties, including leaf removal, Christmas Lights Installation, and snow/ice-related work when needed
• Assist with seasonal property preparation and landscape projects
• Maintain equipment and help keep trucks, tools, and work areas organized
• Follow company safety, quality, and property-care standards
• Communicate professionally with teammates and clients
• Use company-provided technology for scheduling, operations, communication, and documentation
• Work efficiently and professionally as part of a team

Experience & Skills

Previous experience in lawn care, landscaping, groundskeeping, construction, outdoor work, or mechanical work is a plus, but we’re willing to train the right person.

Experience with lawn mowing, landscaping, planting, pruning, power tools, irrigation, fertilization, weed control, plant identification, or equipment maintenance is valuable.

We’re especially interested in people who are mechanically inclined, learn quickly, and want to develop into higher-level crew or leadership positions.

Physical & Outdoor Requirements

This is an active, hands-on outdoor position. You should be comfortable:

• Working outside in varying weather conditions
• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and performing physical labor throughout the workday
• Operating landscaping equipment for extended periods
• Lifting and moving equipment and materials as needed
• Performing repetitive physical tasks safely and efficiently

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a drug test and background check
• Strong character references
• Ability to read and write effectively enough to use company technology and follow written instructions
• Ability and willingness to follow safety procedures and company standards
