Cashman Global Engineering (CGE) is a premier designer of in precast, prestressed concrete Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) storage tanks. CGE is focused on the North American and Caribbean markets, however, has completed projects across the world. CGE is looking for an experienced structural engineering to join it for exciting opportunities in growing field of cryogenic application of concrete/steel pressure vessels.
Position Overview
The Senior Structural Engineer will work directly with the Principal Engineer to develop the structural design, analysis, and construction documents for concrete/steel pressure vessels. It is expected that the Senior Structural Engineer will take on increasing responsibility of the design of projects. Involvement will be with all phases of a project including bid design, FEED, detailed design, construction oversight, and commissioning. The Senior Structural Engineer will also work closely with the construction team during the construction of the projects. Some travel to project sites will be required.
Essential Duties / Functions:
- Perform hand calculations as well as computerized calculations using spreadsheets/MathCad
- Structural design, analysis, and developing design drawings
- Review of drawings and calculations submitted by subcontractors and vendors
- Accurately produce assigned deliverables per applicable design code
- Ensure designs and details are safe for field erection with constructability in mind
- Check and sign off on design calculations and specifications per applicable design codes
- Assist in the development of company standards and specifications
- Run programs in advanced structural analysis for linear and nonlinear analysis
- Forecast how long it will take to do a task and commit to definitive deadlines
- Clearly and concisely communicate with project team and subcontractors to answer engineering questions and request information required for design
Minimum Education Requirements of the Position:
- Master’s degree or greater in Structural Engineering
- Completed courses in concrete design, steel design, and structural analysis required
- Courses in seismic design/earthquake engineering, precast/prestressed concrete, engineering construction a plus but not required
Minimum licensure required of the position:
- P.E. license a plus but not required
Minimum Experience required of the position:
- 5-10 years structural engineering experience required
- Prior LNG or cryogenic liquid experience is a plus, but not necessary
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Must be proficient with STAAD or other advanced structural analysis software for linear and nonlinear analysis
- Strong understanding of ACI, AISC, ASCE 7 codes is required
- Knowledge of API 620, API 650, API 625, ASME Section IX a plus, but not required
- Strong organization skills
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skill
- Drafting (AutoCAD) skills preferred
- Additional computer skills including Word and Excel
Location:
- Hauppauge, NY
- Travel to project sites as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments
