Associate, Renewables Projects and Finance
Strong Associate level candidate needed to support the US Project Finance & Infrastructure team, specifically with a focus on Renewable Energy and Clean Tech. The Associate will be part of the team responsible for the origination and structuring of transactions for Patriot Renewables. As part of deal teams, you will take a role in the structuring, due diligence and execution of transactions.
He/she will work on detailed financial modeling, developing bespoke funding structures for tax equity and debt financing. They will present proposed transactions to management and credit group.
The candidate will be responsible for on-going monitoring of booked assets and conduct due diligence on new transactions. He/she will also assist in identifying new clients interface with internal product groups and assist in creating marketing materials.
Must have experience with the principal financing documentation typical in project financings (including purchase agreements, partnership agreements, credit agreements, security and pledge agreements, and depositary agreements) as well as experience with key commercial project documentation (including development agreements, PPAs, EPCs, site control, and interconnection agreements) and related due diligence.
The candidate will serve in tax equity, other financing (including construction, back-leverage and mezzanine debt), acquisition and other joint venture transactions the subject of which are renewable energy assets (including wind farms, solar projects (utility scale and distributed), battery storage and carbon capture projects).
Main Responsibilities
- Credit Underwriting
- Due Diligence
- Financial analysis of project finance opportunities in Infrastructure and Energy
- Preparation of information memos and coordination of bank meetings
- Managing the Diligence Process from a technical and legal standpoint
- Conduct due diligence on new tax equity and debt transactions
- Detailed financial modeling
- Present proposed transaction to management and credit group
- Responsible for on-going monitoring of booked assets
- Assist in closing transactions, including managing external consultants, advisors and legal counsel
- Overseeing the structuring process through deal closing
- Portfolio management and information reporting on in process transactions and closed deals
- Maintenance of internal reports and their distribution to the appropriate areas
- Understanding and development of financial modeling and financial statement analysis
- Oral and written presentations for client marketing and internal purposes
- Client meeting participation and follow-up
- Preparation and monitoring of the loan closing process
- Identification and use of research and tools
- Participation in due diligence and legal meetings
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or related field
- 3-5 years working experience in the field of financing and the execution of transactions
- Formal credit training a strong plus
- Significant project finance experience, including with respect to renewable energy assets
- Experience working on tax equity transactions is preferred
- Financial modeling and knowledge of financial statements
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and under tight deadlines
- Proficient in ALL Microsoft Office Tools
- Strong Excel and Powerpoint necessary
