Join our dedicated PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services) team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals on their recovery journey. We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and skilled professional to provide counseling, psychiatric rehabilitation services, and recovery-focused support in a dynamic, person-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based, recovery oriented curricula.
  • Provide ongoing therapeutic support and counseling tailored to each participant's unique mental health and recovery needs.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and coaching techniques to empower individuals to achieve their personal goals and reach their full potential.
  • Deliver psychiatric rehabilitation services, including:
    • Readiness assessments
    • Goal development
    • Functional and resource assessments
    • Service planning
    • Skill building and resource development
    • Discharge planning
  • Gather and analyze information from interviews, assessments, records, and professional sources to support individualized recovery planning.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation in compliance with agency, Medicaid, and regulatory requirements, including:
    • Service plans
    • Progress notes
    • Incident and discharge reports
    • Other required clinical documentation
  • Support participant safety by identifying needs, implementing safeguards, and reporting urgent medical or behavioral concerns.
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support when needed.
  • Collaborate with participants, families, treatment providers, and community partners to promote recovery and successful outcomes.
  • Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, staff development activities, and mentoring of new team members.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating appropriate social, interpersonal, and workplace skills.
  • Provide program coverage and support to participants as needed.
  • Accompany participants on community outings, appointments, or meetings when appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for participants and staff.

Qualifications:

What You'll Bring

We are looking for a compassionate, recovery oriented professional who is passionate about supporting individuals on their mental health journey. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Education & Licensure Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Professional licensure (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or other applicable New York State licensure) preferred.
  • Candidates with experience providing behavioral health, psychiatric rehabilitation, or recovery oriented services are encouraged to apply.

Skills & Competencies

Communication Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate groups and present information to participants, families, and colleagues.
  • Skilled in developing comprehensive reports, progress notes, and professional documentation.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

  • Ability to assess situations, exercise sound judgment, and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality service delivery.

Technology Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet based applications.
  • Ability to learn and navigate electronic health record systems and other agency software.

Additional Requirements

  • Daily access to a reliable vehicle required.
  • Valid New York State Driver's License and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage preferred.
  • Ability to travel within the community as needed to support program participants.
  • Must maintain all required OMH, Medicaid, Justice Center, and agency mandated trainings and certifications.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain clearance through:
    • New York State Justice Center background screening
    • New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) criminal background requirements
    • Medicaid Fraud and Abuse clearance process

Work Schedule

Monday–Friday

  • 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or
  • 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This position offers a primarily daytime schedule while requiring flexibility to attend occasional evening, weekend, holiday, and community based events or meetings.

Work Environment

This role combines office based, program based, and community based work in a supportive and collaborative environment. Employees may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions while accompanying participants in community activities. The work environment is generally professional, welcoming, and moderately paced.

The position requires the ability to:

  • Sit and stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Communicate effectively in person and by phone.
  • Occasionally walk, reach, bend, and use hands for routine office and program related tasks.
  • Lift or move up to 10 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Maintain visual acuity necessary for documentation, computer work, and participant support activities.
