BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE
To support the fullest possible educational opportunity for each student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and wellness in a school.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide school heath services including giving attention to sick or injured students
- Administer screenings (hearing, vision, scoliosis)
- Perform special health procedures and assist students with administration of medication as necessary
- Set up and run school clinic services in accordance with school, district, and state guidelines and procedures
- Maintain an orderly clinic area and records of students who visited
- Follow system protocol and procedures in follow-up with parents
- Prepare and submit all reports as required
- Monitor and report child abuse or neglect following district procedures
- Serve as a resource on health issues within the school
- Provide any requested professional learning on health issues to the staff
- Serve as a resource to health classes
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS
- Must be licensed by the State of Georgia as an RN
- Must maintain current CPR certification and any other certifications that are added to state requirements
EXPERIENCE
- Successful previous work experiences.
