Janicki Industries is an innovative, family-owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for companies in the aerospace, defense, and space industries. We are looking for a Faciliites Painter to join our growing team.
This position is located on-site in Bellingham, Washington State.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
A Painter is responsible for applying protective and decorative coatings to a variety of surfaces in industrial and facility environments. The primary responsibilities will vary based on the type of painting required. These duties may include preparing surfaces, mixing and applying paint or coatings, and ensuring all work is completed according to specifications and safety standards. The position involves using various tools and equipment to ensure the proper application of finishes and coatings.
The following are the generalized duties expected of a Painter:
Prepare surfaces for painting by removing contaminants such as grease, dirt, rust, and old pain
Set up and maintain equipment and tools required for painting tasks
Mix and apply primers, paints, and other coatings to ensure proper coverage and finish.
Mask areas that should not be painted
Ensure the proper application of coatings, including multiple coats where necessary.
Ensure safety protocols are followed and that the work area remains clean and organized
Operate scaffolding, ladders, and other access equipment safely
Maintain inventory of necessary supplies and materials
Follow safety protocols, such as using appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), handling hazardous materials correctly, and adhering to environmental safety standards.
Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings
Perform general maintenance of painting tools and equipment
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or department leads
A Facilities Painter works in office buildings, warehouses, or other facility environments, applying coatings to interior and exterior walls, ceilings, floors, and other surfaces. This position typically involves more routine painting tasks within established settings such as commercial or residential spaces.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming as needed
Apply finish coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
Ensure surfaces are smooth and even, with no visible imperfections
Protect surrounding areas from paint spills and splatters by using drop cloths, masking tape, and other protective materials
Conduct touch-ups and repairs on painted surfaces to ensure long-lasting results
Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working order
Follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective gear
Work with other team members to complete tasks on time
QUALIFICATIONS
Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
One or more years of experience in a related painting field is preferred
High school diploma or GED required
Knowledge of safety protocols, including handling hazardous materials
Strong attention to detail and quality in work execution
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English
Proven experience as a painter, particularly in finish painting
Knowledge of various painting techniques and finishes
Strong attention to detail and high standards of quality
Ability to work independently
Good physical stamina, including the ability to stand for long periods and work in various environments
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Wage range for this role is between $20 - $45 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
