Position Summary

The Estimating & Customer Solutions Specialist is responsible for preparing accurate quotations for manufactured products while delivering exceptional customer service throughout the sales and order fulfillment process. This position serves as a primary point of contact for customers and supports estimating, order entry, shipping coordination, inside sales activities, reporting, and administrative functions. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to build positive relationships with customers and internal team members.

Essential Functions – Estimating & Quoting

• Review customer drawings, specifications, RFQs, and project requirements to determine manufacturing needs.
• Prepare timely, accurate quotations utilizing engineering drawings, bills of material, routing information, vendor pricing, and manufacturing standards.
• Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs) and routing information within the ERP system.
• Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, and operations to obtain information needed for accurate quotations.
• Maintain quotation files and supporting documentation.
• Follow up on outstanding quotations and maintain quote activity records.
• Maintain current knowledge of Janco's manufacturing capabilities, processes, and services.

Essential Functions – Customer Service & Order Management

(Handy Product focused)

• Serve as a primary contact for assigned customer accounts.
• Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries by phone and email.
• Accurately enter and maintain customer orders in the ERP system.
• Verify pricing, quantities, delivery requirements, and customer specifications.
• Communicate order status, lead times, and changes to customers.
• Maintain accurate customer records and documentation.

Essential Functions – Shipping & Logistics Coordination

• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with freight carriers.
• Request freight quotes and schedule shipments.
• Prepare bills of lading, shipping labels, and shipping documentation.
• Process international shipping documentation when required.
• Track shipments and assist in resolving freight issues.

Essential Functions – Sales Support & Business Development

• Support inside sales activities through customer follow-up and communication.
• Assist with quote follow-up and sales opportunities.
• Build positive customer relationships through responsive service.
• Represent Janco professionally with customers, prospects, and vendors.

Essential Functions – Accounting & Administrative Support

• Provide backup support for accounts receivable activities.
• Provide backup support for accounts payable activities.
• Assist with general administrative and office support as assigned.

Essential Functions – Reporting & Data Management

• Maintain accurate electronic and paper files.
• Generate reports, spreadsheets, and customer information as requested.
• Maintain accurate ERP data and documentation.
• Protect confidential company and customer information.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of manufacturing, estimating, customer service, inside sales, or related experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• ERP experience (JobBOSS² or similar) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
• Experience reading engineering drawings.
• Estimating experience.
• Shipping/logistics experience.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting and working at a computer.
• Frequent keyboarding and telephone use.
• Occasional standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to safely enter production areas using required PPE.

Work Environment

Office environment within a manufacturing facility with frequent interaction across departments.
