Job Skills / Requirements
GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARY
Ability to support our mission of maintaining a high level of cleanliness and orderliness in offices, hospitals, and other designated buildings. Maintenance, upkeep of common areas; responding to emergencies inside and outside of building. The Porter will also assist the rest of the staff, as directed and or when needed, in their efforts to manage the different daily unique challenges in an efficient manner. Respond to property management needs in a timely manner with professionalism upholding Janco’s reputation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must communicate effectively and cooperate consistently with tenants, visitors, and operations personnel
- Arrive to the building on time and ready to perform required duties
- Provide friendly and courteous assistance to tenants and visitors
- Adhere to all proper safety guidelines (example: use appropriate signage when using products that create wet or slippery conditions)
- Maintain possession of keys/access cards provided for building access; report if these items are known to be missing
- Watch for and report any suspicious activity observed in the building or on the property premises
- Cooperate with building security services as needed
- Maintain clean/organized stocked janitorial closets at all times
Example of duties on an as needed basis:
- Collect/empty trash and recyclable receptacles
- Dusting, vacuum, sweep, mop floors, sinks etc.
- Cleaning high touch points such as glass and doors
- Notify manager of deficiencies or needs for repairs
- Stock and maintain supply rooms
- Cooperate and communicate with the rest of the team
- Work within time constraints
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- Always wear proper personal protective gear

Work Schedule:
Janco offers flexible shift options based on building needs and client schedules:
1st Shift (Day Shift): Typically between 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
2nd Shift (Evening Shift): Typically between 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM
3rd Shift (Overnight Shift): Typically between 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Most janitorial positions are on 2nd or 3rd shift, Sunday through Thursday.
