Position Summary
The Vice President of Casino Operations is responsible for the strategic leadership, financial performance, and operational execution of all gaming activities, including Slots, Table Games, Poker, Player Development, Casino Hosts, and VIP Services.
This role is accountable for driving total gaming revenue through the integration of floor operations, player development strategy, VIP engagement, and reinvestment discipline. The VP ensures a seamless alignment between operations and marketing to maximize player worth, guest experience, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Gaming Leadership
- Provide executive oversight of all Casino Operations, including Slots, Table Games, Poker, Casino Hosts, and VIP Services.
- Develop and execute integrated gaming and player development strategies aligned with property objectives.
- Optimize the performance of the gaming floor, including slot mix, table spread, high-limit areas, and VIP environments.
Revenue Growth & Player Development
- Lead the Player Development function, including Casino Hosts and VIP Services, with full accountability for player acquisition, retention, and worth migration.
- Establish performance standards for hosts based on measurable revenue contribution (theoretical and actual).
- Drive premium player strategy, including high-limit, VIP, and top-tier guest experiences.
- Partner with Database Marketing to align segmentation, reinvestment, and offer strategy with on-property execution.
- Oversee comp strategy to ensure disciplined reinvestment and maximum ROI.
VIP Experience & Service Excellence
- Ensure delivery of a best-in-class VIP and premium guest experience across all gaming and non-gaming touchpoints.
- Oversee VIP Services, including concierge-level support, reservations, events, and personalized guest engagement.
- Establish service standards and recovery protocols for high-value guests.
- Drive cross-property coordination (hotel, F&B, entertainment, spa) to enhance VIP experience and increase total spend.
Operational Excellence
- Provide leadership over Slots and Table Games Operations, ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-performing operations.
- Optimize staffing models, scheduling, and labor utilization to meet business demands.
- Ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Oversee Poker Operations, including profitability, player experience, and tournament strategy.
Financial Performance & Accountability
- Accountable for achieving gaming revenue, EBITDA, and profit targets across all areas of responsibility.
- Develop and manage operating and capital budgets; monitor performance and address variances.
- Identify and execute opportunities to increase revenue and improve margins.
Gaming Integrity & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, internal controls, and gaming procedures.
- Oversee game protection strategies in partnership with Surveillance and Security.
- Protect company assets and ensure operational integrity across all gaming areas.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing leadership team across operations and player development.
- Establish a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee hiring, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labor agreements in a union environment (where applicable).
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with Marketing, Hotel Operations, Food & Beverage, Finance, and HR to drive total property performance.
- Align player development and VIP strategies with overall resort experience and brand positioning.
- Participate as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team in strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Hospitality, or related field preferred; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in casino operations and player development, including executive-level responsibility.
- Proven success in driving gaming revenue, player development performance, and VIP engagement.
- Strong financial acumen, including P&L management, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Deep knowledge of Slots, Table Games, Poker, and host/VIP service operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and casino management systems.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required gaming licenses.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct oversight of Casino Operations, Player Development, Casino Hosts, and VIP Services leadership.
- Responsible for performance management, workforce planning, and leadership development.
- Establish staffing models and succession plans across all areas of responsibility.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Frequent presence on the casino floor in a high-noise environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
