Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Summary
We are a small, family-owned construction company looking for a reliable and experienced mechanic to help maintain and repair our fleet of heavy equipment and trucks, including but not limited to, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, rock trucks, and MACK trucks. The ideal candidate is experienced in troubleshooting diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems and takes pride in keeping equipment operating safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on heavy equipment and trucks
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and routine servicing to minimize downtime
• Troubleshoot equipment issues using logical diagnostic procedures
• Remove, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and install components and parts
• Test, measure, and adjust engine and machine systems as needed
• Order replacement parts and ensure parts orders are accurate and complete
• Maintain accurate service, repair, and maintenance records
• Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components
• Ensure all repairs meet company safety and quality standards
• Keep the shop and work areas clean, organized, and safe

Qualifications

• Experience working on heavy equipment, construction equipment, or diesel trucks preferred
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems
• Ability to diagnose and repair equipment efficiently and independently
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to operate a service vehicle and equipment safely
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
