What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Philanthropy Specialist position at Jamboree?
We’re looking for dedicated team members to join Orange County’s largest nonprofit developer of high quality affordable housing and services that transform lives and strengthen communities.
Primary Objective of Position:
The Philanthropy Specialist will have a strong expertise in fundraising processes/policies/procedures. This role requires a creative thinker with excellent technical and writing skills with a deep understanding of how to develop and support a comprehensive fundraising program that resonates with diverse audiences, particularly within the Orange County philanthropic community. The Philanthropy Specialist ensures accurate and consistent collection of donor data and population of this data into the Jamboree database. They will work with the Vice President Philanthropy to develop and execute strategies to enhance Jamboree’s philanthropic program and outreach efforts.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Ensure accurate collection of donor data, associated gifts and execution of timely donor stewardship correspondences
- Assess existing donor records and build out relevant data to facilitate appropriate engagement
- Produce philanthropic reports necessary to engage and steward supporters as well as to assess progress to goal.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to prepare annual solicitations for new and recurring donors and accurately track responses.
- In collaboration with VP Philanthropy, prepare donor solicitation materials consistent with Jamboree brand.
- Facilitate operational build out of a corporate partners giving program.
- Collaborate with VP Philanthropy to develop procedural documents related to philanthropic giving.
- Work closely with internal teams, such as marketing and community impact to ensure cohesive brand messaging and strategy implementation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Level of Education, Experience and Skill Set:
- 5 years of experience in philanthropic-fundraising support field.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in developing donor communications, solicitation proposals writing, brand management, digital marketing, or a related role.
- Exceptional technical skills with strong knowledge of donor databases such as Raisers Edge and Airtable.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Flexibility to respond to changing situations and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools, social media platforms, design software, and content management systems, (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Analytics, HubSpot, Adobe, Photoshop and InDesign, Canva, and Salesforce.)
- Familiarity with the affordable housing industry preferred.
- Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion.
- Ability to build strong relationships and navigate sensitive issues with empathy.
- Valid California driver’s license and availability of an insured vehicle to travel within the California service area.
- Job includes some evening and weekend hours.
Physical Demands:
The Philanthropy Specialist is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, twist, lean, move from one location to another and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close and far vision. Ability to operate a computer keyboard, and lift files and reports. Exposure to glare from a computer.

Work Environment:
The work environment will usually be in a professional office setting, with possible shared workspace. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. When traveling the environment will change dependent upon the site visiting.
Salary : $31 - $41
