Jaeger Lumber is proudly serving New Jersey’s finest contractors and home owners since 1937 for all of their construction and remodeling needs. We are currently looking to hire a Warehouse/Yard Person at our Madison location. The ideal candidate will provide professional customer service to contractors and customers at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is properly secured to prevent damage during transit.
- Operate equipment, such as liftgates, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to facilitate the loading and unloading process.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including the use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with clients and handling inquiries or concerns
- Possess an understanding of the products we carry, location and how they are sold
- Make up loads for delivery as instructed by supervisor
- Monitor inventories of materials
- Ensure that nothing leaves the yard without an invoice
- If there is any issue with quality assurance on material received, notify manager immediately
- Must adhere to our safety culture and follow safety protocols
- General grounds maintenance such as: cleaning yard, and snow removal when needed
- Adhere to all policies and procedures in place.
- Saturdays and working outside in cold or hot weather required.
- Familiarity with building materials is a plus
Education and/or on-the-job experience needed –
- High School Diploma, or GED
- Forklift certification is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with team members and customers
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy cargo as needed
- Must be able to do basic Math
- Willingness to work flexible hours and adapt to schedule changes
- Commitment to safety
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
