Overview
We are looking for a friendly, detail‑oriented Nursery Cashier to join our team. This role combines customer service with hands‑on nursery support, making it perfect for someone who enjoys working with people and plants. The Nursery Cashier is often the first and last point of contact for customers, helping create a welcoming, knowledgeable, and efficient shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide helpful, knowledgeable assistance
- Operate the cash register, process payments, and handle returns or exchanges
- Answer questions about plants, products, and general nursery information
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting checkout area
- Create and apply accurate labels for plants, pots, and retail items
- Ensure pricing, signage, and product information are clear and up to date
- Restock displays and help maintain an attractive, well‑organized sales floor
- Assist with daily watering of nursery stock as needed
- Monitor plant health and notify nursery leads of any issues
- Help keep nursery areas tidy, safe, and well‑maintained
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 30–40 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Basic math skills and comfort using a point‑of‑sale system
- Attention to detail, especially with labeling and pricing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail, cashiering, or customer‑facing roles
- Familiarity with plants, gardening, or nursery work
- Ability to multitask and stay organized during busy periods
Schedule & Work Environment
- Seasonal 830am-5pm, M-F, April 1st-July 1st with ability to continue by transitioning to cut flower production and summer nursery/propagation work.
- Weekend availability may be needed during peak season
- Work includes both indoor and outdoor tasks
