Field Crew Member
Overview
We are seeking a motivated, dependable Field Crew Member to support the growing and field‑care operations on our organic vegetable and fruit farm. This role is ideal for someone who loves working outdoors, enjoys hands‑on physical work, and is passionate about helping crops thrive from seed to maturity. The Farmhand will focus exclusively on field production tasks—no harvest or post‑harvest work—playing a key role in maintaining healthy, productive plants throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with seeding, transplanting, and bed preparation
- Weed, cultivate, mulch, trellis, prune, and thin crops as needed
- Apply organic amendments and support soil‑building practices
- Monitor plant health and report pest, disease, or irrigation issues
- Maintain row cover, shade cloth, insect netting, and other crop protection systems
- Support compost application, cover cropping, and other regenerative practices
- Maintain clean, organized field areas, tool sheds, and workspaces
- Assist with basic repairs to fencing, trellises, irrigation lines, and field structures
- Operate hand tools and small equipment safely and efficiently
- Support pruning, mulching, thinning, and general maintenance of berry rows, and perennial plantings
- Monitor plant vigor and assist with seasonal care tasks
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work long hours on your feet
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently
- Good communication skills and willingness to follow instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and pride in producing high‑quality organic crops
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience on a vegetable or fruit farm
- Familiarity with organic or regenerative growing practices
- Comfort using hand tools, small equipment, or tractors
- Basic mechanical, carpentry, or irrigation skills
- Interest in sustainable agriculture and soil health
Schedule & Work Environment
- Seasonal or year‑round depending on farm needs
- Full‑time or part‑time options

- Work is primarily outdoors in varied weather conditions
