JACO ENGINEERING
Precision Machining for the Aerospace & Defense Industries — Anaheim, California
Shipping & Receiving Manager
Packaging · Documentation · Full Time, On-Site (Anaheim, CA)
POSITION SUMMARY
Jaco Engineering is an established Anaheim precision machine shop producing close-tolerance machined components for the aerospace and defense industries. We are seeking an experienced Shipping & Receiving Manager to own the flow of parts, packaging, and paperwork in and out of our facility.
This is a hands-on, working-manager role for someone who is comfortable both on the floor and in the paperwork — packaging and protecting precision aerospace hardware for shipment, and completing the shipping documentation, certifications, and records that our customers require. You will work directly with production, quality, and customers to keep outgoing shipments accurate, compliant, and on time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Manage all incoming and outgoing shipments: verify and count parts and materials, log receipts, and complete associated paperwork and system records.
● Package, protect, bag, box, and palletize precision machined parts for shipment, following customer packaging and part-marking requirements common to aerospace and medical industries.
● Prepare and complete shipping paperwork, including packing lists, certificates of conformance, shipping manifests, and customer-required documentation packages.
● Create part tags and barcodes, and perform part marking and identification in coordination with the packaging department.
● Prepare shipments and manifests for UPS, FedEx, and common carrier freight; manage online order pickups, label printing, and tracking.
● Manage inventory accuracy across paper and computer systems, including cycle counts and inventory audits.
● Supervise shipping clerks and delivery drivers; plan and route local Southern California deliveries and pickups.
● Ensure compliance with customer requirements, ITAR, and applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
● Maintain a clean, organized shipping, receiving, and packaging work area, including inside and outside storage.
● Represent the shipping department in production meetings and communicate status to operations and quality management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Minimum three (3) years of hands-on experience in a shipping/receiving, packaging, or logistics role, ideally within the aerospace or medical device manufacturing industries.
● Demonstrated experience packaging precision or close-tolerance parts, including protective and export-grade packaging methods.
● Proven experience preparing shipping and quality paperwork — packing lists, certificates of conformance, manifests, and customer documentation packages — accurately and on deadline.
● Prior experience creating UPS and/or FedEx shipping manifests and labels.
● Comfortable in a paperwork-intensive role requiring strong attention to detail and recordkeeping.
● Basic computer skills: typing, data entry, email, document scanning, and PDF creation.
● Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record; valid forklift certification, or ability to obtain one.
● Ability to lift 50 lbs and to stand, move, and work on your feet throughout the shift.
● U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person as defined under ITAR (22 CFR 120.62) — required for access to controlled technical data.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
● Experience in an AS9100-certified aerospace facility or an ISO 13485-certified medical device facility.
● Experience with customer or third-party quality and inventory audits.
● Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills.
● Experience driving a delivery vehicle for local pickups and deliveries.
● Familiarity with part marking and barcode/tag creation software.
SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
● Full-time, on-site, non-exempt hourly position.
● Competitive pay based on experience and demonstrated packaging/shipping ability.
● Company-paid medical and dental coverage.
● Paid holidays, vacation, and PTO.
● 401(k) retirement plan.
● Stable, long-established shop with a steady aerospace and defense customer base.
