Buyer / Expeditor / Planner

POSITION SUMMARY

Jaco Engineering is an established Anaheim precision machine shop producing close-tolerance machined components for the aerospace and defense industries. We are seeking an experienced Buyer/Expeditor/Planner to support our purchasing, estimating, and order planning functions.

This is a detail-oriented, paperwork- and systems-intensive role for someone who is comfortable working across purchasing, sales, and planning — issuing and expediting purchase orders, gathering historical order data, building new order packages, and helping prepare pricing proposals and quotations for customers. You will work directly with suppliers, customers, and the estimating and planning teams to keep orders moving accurately and on schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Receive, acknowledge, process, and organize new customer orders.

● Serve as the customer point of contact for select accounts, responding to inquiries and order changes and providing order status.

● Gather electronic and paper files, print engineering drawings, and build new order packages for order planning.

● Assist with preparing pricing proposals: obtain supplier costs and perform basic financial/cost analysis.

● Create and award purchase orders to suppliers.

● Follow up on and expedite orders placed with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.

● Submit sales quotations to customers, including through customer online quoting and data-transfer portals.

● Research prior orders and gather historical paperwork and data to support the estimating staff.

● Assist with answering incoming phone calls and general email inquiries.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Background in manufacturing — machine shop operations, procurement, estimating, or production planning.

● Strong organizational skills with solid MS Office proficiency, including intermediate Excel skills.

● Working knowledge of records management and document control.

● Excellent communicator with a pleasant, professional phone presentation.

● Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.

● Comfortable with office equipment and workstation computers, including copiers, scanners, and phone systems, with basic troubleshooting ability.

● High school diploma or equivalent required.

● U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) required due to work on U.S. government contracts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Experience with MRP systems such as VISTA, Epicor, JobBOSS, or similar.

● Prior experience working in a machine shop or other manufacturing environment.

● A two- or four-year degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, or a related field, or a relevant certificate program — several years of relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.

SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

● Full-time position in an air-conditioned facility, Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts; some overtime possible.
