Job Summary
The Director of the Music Program will be an experienced university-level music educator responsible for overseeing the teach-out of music majors. This role focuses on instructional responsibilities, student advising, and coordination of the remaining music program operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach 18 credit hours over the academic year
Advise remaining music students
Oversee music facilities including classrooms, practice suites, computer lab, and partial oversight of Terry Concert Hall
Coordinate course offerings with the Dean’s Office and Registrar’s Office
Work with faculty to schedule recitals, concerts, and use of practice spaces
Coordinate with the Office Associate to prepare payroll and contracts for collaborative musicians, contract musicians, and technical support staff
Required Skills and Abilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of a NASM-accredited music curriculum
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Argos, and Blackboard
Experience teaching in a NASM-accredited music program
Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Experience
Doctorate in Music
University-level teaching experience in music
Physical Requirements
The candidate must be able to:
Lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 20 pounds
Bend, stoop, and reach as necessary
Use manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and office equipment
Hear adequately to communicate effectively in person and via phone
Sit or stand for extended periods during lectures and office work
