Job Summary

Primary responsibilities are to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of Division I program including, but not limited to, teaching student athletes how to perform baseball, integrate/manage video & data, coordinating team travel arrangements, game day operations and personnel management. This position will also assist the Head Coach in organization, administration, and promotion of the program.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Obtaining, communicating and managing student managers


Duties/Responsibilities

Assisting with any or all of the following duties as assigned by Head Coach:

  • ORGANIZING WAYS TO HELP STUDENT-ATHLETES DEVELOP AND PERFORM IN THE SPORT OF BASEBALL – Responsible for:
    1. Organizing, coordinating & managing daily technology/video/data for the program
    2. Assist in organizing and participating in individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach
  • ORGANIZING WAYS TO HELP THE STAFF IDENTIFY AND RECRUIT STUDENT-ATHLETES IN THE SPORT OF BASEBALL - Responsible for:
    1. Compliance with NCAA recruiting rules and completing associated paperwork in a timely manner
    2. Identify students who will be an asset to the University and Department of Athletics and graduate in a timely manner
    3. Monitor and assess viability of potential student-athletes in NCAA transfer portal
    4. Arranging financially responsible recruiting trips for staff
    5. Initiating arrangements for all official and unofficial visits
  • OPERATIONS– Responsible for:
    1. Initiating process for all travel arrangements and submitting reports
    2. Coordinating daily game day functions of the program
    3. Monitor, organize front office area and order office supplies
    4. Coordinate, order and reconcile meals when necessary for the student-athletes
    5. Initiate, send out and receive all Game contracts
    6. Serve as lead communicator with opponents
    7. Coordinate and implement bat testing for every game
  • CAMPS - Responsible for:
    1. Following guidelines established by Department, University, and the NCAA for camp procedures and operations
    2. Assist Coordinating and operating of youth and prospect camps
  • EQUIPMENT/APPAREL– Responsible for:
    1. Pre- and Post-season inventory
    2. Care and maintenance of all equipment/apparel and facilities
    3. Assist in ordering equipment/apparel
  • SCHEDULING– Responsible for:
    1. Assist in scheduling of all competition
    2. Submitting schedule to the Finance and Compliance Office for final approval prior to initiating contracts
  • BUDGETS– Responsible for:
    1. Assisting in annual budget preparation
    2. Staying within amount budgeted for fiscal year
    3. Having all expenditures pre-approved through appropriate channels
  • PAPERWORK – Responsible for:
    1. Completing all paperwork by established athletic department and NCAA deadlines
  • FINANCIAL AID– Responsible for:
    1. Understanding NCAA regulations
    2. Initiating process for initial and renewal grants
    3. Consistently updating team rosters
    4. Meeting athletic grant-in-aid budget
  • ACADEMICS– Responsible for:
    1. Supporting all Department of Athletics policies on classroom attendance, study hall, progress reports and enforcing disciplinary actions
    2. Working with teams to maintain and increase their APR
  • FUNDRAISING– Responsible for:
    1. Devising new methods of fund raising
    2. Being available for Departmental fund raising activities
    3. Following guidelines established by Department, University, and the NCAA for fund raising activities
  • MEETINGS – Responsible for:
    1. Attending and contributing to all Department of Athletics meetings and requested functions


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of Baseball
  • General understanding of technology applicable.
  • Ability to lead, guide and direct graduate assistants, interns and student-athletes
  • Willingness to form relationships with constituents/alumni and help fundraise
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Yakkertech, Pitchcom, Synergy, Trumedia, Baseball Cloud.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or University


Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds

• Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach.

• Manual Dexterity for computer usage

• Adequate hearing to effectively communicate
