Job Summary
The Adjunct Professor of Philosophy within the School of Humanities is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in philosophy. The position involves teaching assigned courses, assessing student learning outcomes, and contributing to the academic mission of the University through excellence in teaching and student engagement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• None.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Teach undergraduate courses in philosophy.Â
• Prepare and deliver course materials in alignment with departmental and University standards.Â
• Assess student learning outcomes and provide timely, constructive feedback.Â
• Maintain appropriate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.Â
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.Â
• Communicate effectively with students and departmental colleagues.Â
• Willingness to teach online sections of the course, if necessary.Â
• Attend departmental meetings and trainings as required.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction.Â
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.Â
• Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning experiences.Â
• Proficient in the use of instructional technology and standard office software.
Education and Experience
• Earned an advanced degree from an accredited university in philosophy or a closely related discipline.Â
• Minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline.Â
• At least two years of teaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while instructing.Â
• Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other instructional or office equipment.Â
• Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
