Job Summary
The Jacksonville University Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences’ Comprehensive Oral Implantology Program seeks candidates for an Adjunct position. The successful candidate will join a diverse group of faculty, clinical directors, residents, and staff in their mission to achieve excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Course development
- Creating a syllabus that includes course objectives, assignments, assessments, and rubrics
- Providing lectures to fulfill the course objectives
- Leading class discussions
- Grading assessments and providing final evaluations
- Providing prompt responses to student questions
Required Skills/Abilities
- Diagnosis and treatment planning
- Socket grafting, guided bone regeneration, and maxillary sinus augmentation
- Overview of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures
- Understanding of mandible, maxilla, and bone physiology/repair
- Overview of implants, their concepts, techniques, and maintenance
- Soft tissue management
- Fixed and removable prosthodontics in implant dentistry
- Periodontal aspects of implant dentistry and peri-implantitis prevention and treatment
- Advanced dental implant procedures including zygomatic and pterygoid implants
- Management of implant-related complications
- Overview of head, neck, and plastic surgery procedures
- Laser surgery and treatments
- Computer-assisted surgery
- Utilization of artificial intelligence in medicine/dentistry
- Management of medically compromised patients
- Pharmacological considerations for implant dentistry
- Conscious sedation of the implant patient
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience teaching or practicing in implant dentistry or oral/maxillofacial surgery
- Expertise in advanced implant techniques and digital dentistry
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology and evidence-based practices into instruction
Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) required
- Previous teaching experience at the graduate or postdoctoral level preferred
Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
- Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
