Position Title: Bookkeeper/Free and Reduced Lunch Specialist
Department: Child Nutrition
Reports To: Director of Child Nutrition
Contract: 244 Days
Closing Date: Until Filled
SUMMARY: The job of the bookkeeper/free and reduced lunch specialist is to ensure the efficient operation of the child nutrition office to ensure its effective role in the education process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the Free and Reduced Price Meal application process, as required by USDA regulations.
- Maintains a wide variety of fiscal information, files and records, free/reduced lunch applications for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
- Composes standardized correspondence.
- Prepares written reports, memos and letters.
- Answers and responds to all telephone calls.
- Schedules appointments and maintains the calendar for the Director of Child Nutrition.
- Collects and follows up on all outstanding revenue for Child Nutrition.
- Compiles and submits reports to the State Department of Education.
- Types invoices and distributes all records from schools participating in serving extended day breakfasts, extended day and pre-kindergarten snacks.
- Receives all invoices and check requests, and enters data or batches the invoices for payment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent; three successful years of job related experience is required.
SKILLS and/or ABILITIES: Modern office procedures and computer programs; business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar; basic arithmetic. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Communicate effectively and tactfully in oral and written form.
