The Department of Facilities and Construction Management at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Preventative Maintenance Tech position.
Examples of Duties
This is an entry level position in a mechanical and safety support role. Perform basic preventive maintenance to facilities and building systems and assist technician(s) with completing repairs or upgrades.
Ensure that equipment used in maintenance is kept clean and in proper working condition.
Ability to operate tools, machines, and other equipment.
Compliance with local building codes, and health and safety regulations.
Utilize handheld devices and asset management system mobile apps to create and close work orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used).
Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.

Typical Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Must have a valid Mississippi Driver's License.
One to two years of experience in facility maintenance (especially in mechanical trades such as IIVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or safety) preferred, but not required.
Ability to bend, stand, stoop, crawl, or smell and access small areas as needed.
Ability to lilt minimum of 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and work at heights greater than 20 feet.
Ability to work in outdoor conditions throughout the year.
Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
