Job Purpose
The Portfolio Specialist is responsible for working with JNAM’s team of Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Senior Portfolio Specialists (SPS) in helping deliver our message to the field and support wholesalers on investment-related topics. The Portfolio Specialist will serve as a liaison between the Chicago-based Investment Management team and the remote SPS team. This job requires a solid knowledge of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and manager oversight, along with strong communication skills.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Generates portfolio construction reports to be used in meetings with internal and external constituents in the support of the selling process.
With solid understanding of various sub account options and managers on the JNL Fund platform, answers questions from the SPS team and wholesalers.
Proactively provides performance updates and manager insights to the SPS team.
Delivers presentations (in person or video conference) to internal and, at times, external wholesalers on manager research process, our capital markets outlook and portfolio positioning, as well as other investment related topics.
Works with various members of the Investment Team in the development and delivery of investment communications.
Supports product development initiatives by assisting investment management team in research efforts and due diligence.
Works with Jackson’s National Accounts team through completion of due diligence requests and other information.
Acts as a training resource for internal constituents.

Occasional travel required, to support SPS and wholesalers
Attend industry and/or asset manager conferences on occasion.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Deep knowledge of investment concepts and strategies.
Experience in one or more of the following: institutional-level money manager due diligence, investment strategy, and/or portfolio relationship management.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of management as well as other departments in a collaborative environment.
Detail-oriented, well-organized self-starter with high energy and the capacity to work in a team environment that is results-oriented.
Highly proficient in the entire Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with Morningstar Direct preferred.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
5+ years investment management industry experience required.
Investment related professional designations (CFA, CAIA), or pursuit of, preferred.
