Summary
The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for assisting physicians with the scheduling and authorizations for surgeries including processing of paperwork, medical clearance, and payment. May assist patient with pre- and post-operative instructions.
Responsibilities
- At the beginning of each week provide the physician with his surgery schedule.
- Conduct pre-surgery interview with patient during office visit. Provides patient with pre and post-operative instructions.
- Schedules appointment with patient's PCP to obtain medical clearance for surgery. Fax medical clearance sheets to and sends all paperwork needed by the hospital for scheduled surgeries including admittance and registration paperwork to the admitting department.
- Obtains authorizations for all surgical procedures.
- Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
- Performs all other related job duties as assigned.
Experience
Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience. Prior surgical scheduling experience strongly preferred.
Education
High school diploma is required.
