JOB Position SummaryThis is a full-time, position, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Primary responsibilities are to collect and receipt tax payments, assist with the county’s computerized tax system, perform functions of the foreclosure process and interact with local governmental entities. Will also provide information by telephone and in person to taxpayers, banks, real estate personnel, title companies, attorneys and other interested parties concerning the tax status of Jackson County properties.Position DescriptionADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Some of the essential functions of this job include but are not limited to:
1. As a Deputized Processing/Personal Server gives verbal notifications to property owners and/or those individuals with legal interest, of the foreclosure process per Public Act 123.
2. Collects all delinquent tax payments and personal property taxes including assisting the County Treasurer with the auction process as directed.
3. Processes passport applications and provides photos for both new passports and renewals.
4. Issues dog licenses and sends out renewal notices monthly.
5. Certifies deeds and land contracts for daily recording. Certifies there are no delinquent taxes.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school graduation or equivalent, prefer advanced coursework in tax laws, accounting and data processing.
Experience: Two to three years’ experience in a capacity related to tax records and tax laws in a treasurer’s office or related setting. Includes working with computerized accounting systems and spreadsheets.
Other Requirements: Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
