LEAD CUSTODIAN - 2nd Shift - OFFICE SETTING

Job Summary

Jack's Maintenance Service, a trusted leader in commercial cleaning and maintenance, is seeking a reliable and experienced Lead Custodian to manage and maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment at an assigned office facility. This is a critical working lead position where you will be hands-on with daily cleaning duties while directing and coordinating the work of other custodial staff on second shift.

Key Responsibilities

1) Leadership & Supervision

• Direct Daily Work: Assign and delegate tasks to the 4-member custodial team, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and meets company and customer quality standards.
• Training and Coaching: Provide hands-on training and guidance to team members on proper cleaning techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
• Quality Control: Conduct routine inspections of the entire building to ensure high cleanliness, sanitation, and security standards are consistently met.
• Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for the facilities team regarding custodial needs, setups, and event logistics, maintaining excellent professional relations.

2) Custodial & Maintenance

• Perform comprehensive cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing.
• Clean and maintain restrooms, conference rooms, offices, hallways, breakrooms, and common areas.
• Manage and track inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; submit timely requisitions.
• Set up and tear down furniture and equipment for events, meetings, and activities.
• Partner with on-site security to ensure the facility is properly secured at the end of the shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3 years of professional janitorial or custodial experience, preferably in an office or large commercial/institutional setting.
• 1 year in a Lead, Supervisor, or equivalent role preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, methods, and industrial cleaning equipment (carpet extractors, floor scrubbers, etc).
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Must pass an acceptable criminal background screening.
• Proof of U.S. citizenship required.
