Position Summary
In this position, you will take ownership of the full-cycle accounting and financial management of a U.S. business operation, leading the transition of accounting functions from an outsourced provider to an in-house structure. You will oversee closing, reporting, and budget management while serving as the primary financial liaison to an overseas headquarters.
Responsibilities
- Lead the transition of accounting functions (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable)
- from an external firm to an internal team, including the selection and implementation of required
- accounting software and internal controls
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports to an overseas parent organization
- Monitor cash flow and perform budget-to-actual variance analysis
- Provide financial insights and guidance to department leaders
- Oversee employee expense reimbursement processes and ensure policy compliance
- Act as the primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors
- Partner with retail operations on inventory accounting and store-level analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with ERP systems and expense management platforms
- Strong communication skills with both finance and non-finance stakeholders in both Japanese and English
- Ability to work autonomously and manage both strategic and detail-oriented tasks
- Flexibility to participate in international meetings across time zones
- CPA or MBA is a strong plus
