Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse Manager to lead and oversee nursing operations within a diverse healthcare setting. In this pivotal role, you will coordinate patient care, supervise nursing staff, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and promote a culture of excellence in patient outcomes. Your leadership will drive high-quality care delivery across multiple units, including acute care, long-term care, behavioral health, and specialized services such as dementia and memory care. Duties

  • Lead and manage nursing teams across various departments, ensuring optimal staffing levels and effective team management.
  • Oversee patient assessments, medical documentation, and clinical procedures including vital signs, physical examinations, IV insertion, catheter care, and sterile techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and safety standards such as OSHA guidelines.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration for comprehensive discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Supervise the use of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and data management.
  • Facilitate staff training on EMR systems, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and other technical skills necessary for efficient operations.
  • Monitor quality metrics related to patient care, including pain management, infection control, nutrition support, and dementia or Alzheimer's care programs.
  • Conduct regular staff evaluations and foster professional development through coaching in areas such as ICU experience, emergency medicine protocols, ventilator management, and trauma center standards.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and ensure adherence to NCQA standards and other accreditation requirements.

Experience

  • Proven leadership experience in nursing management within acute hospital settings or long-term care facilities.
  • Extensive background in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers; experience with Level II trauma centers is a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing diverse patient populations including pediatrics (PICU), neonatal ventilator care, geriatrics, behavioral health patients, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to medication administration (including injections), tube feeding, and airway management.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth; proficiency in medical imaging interpretation is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures such as spinal taps or cardiac catheterization; experience with utilization review and utilization management processes.
  • Supervisory experience overseeing nursing staff in medical-surgical units or home care settings; adept at team management and staff development.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic technique, specimen collection/processing, sterile processing procedures, and laboratory experience.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, venipuncture (phlebotomy), suturing skills are desirable.
