About the Role:
The Epic Trainer Registered Nurse uses clinical knowledge and experience to develop and support safe and high quality care using the electronic health record. The RN trainer is responsible for participating in the overall implementation, training, and support of Clinical or Business applications. The RN trainer may in some instances also serve as a Project Helios liaison to their associated clinical departments throughout the system. This includes, but is not limited to, the assessment of optimization efforts to meet system goals including patient safety/quality of care, revenue capture and efficient operations. The RN trainer performs these activities following HFHS standards and processes. The RN trainer is responsible for providing successful training to a diversified audience for the HFHS implementation of an electronic healthcare record utilizing the EPIC system of applications. It will require flexible work hours to meet the needs of the user community. This position requires completion of the credentialing process including an intense five-week training program on the applications(s) you will be teaching, competency checking, teach-backs and teaching the application before a review panel prior to credentialing. Requires a strong skill set in interpersonal, written and verbal communication.
Education & Experience Required:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel.
- Minimum of 2 years of applicable work experience. Bachelors preferred. Strong knowledge/experience in clinical workflows and processes preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years computer related experience required, preferably in a medical clinic setting or training in a hospital setting is preferred.
- Experience EMR training and/or implementation a plus. Ability to work variable shifts: Training will be provided Monday through Saturday (possibly on Sunday).
- Training will be conducted from 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM to accommodate the large volume of end users.
- Knowledge of HFHS clinical and operational workflows, as well as policy and procedures is beneficial.
- Ability to consistently present scripted training materials to large groups, and to conduct engaging and effective training sessions to diverse audiences including management staff, nurses, medical assistants, ancillary support staff, physicians, mid-level providers and others.

- Ability to maintain a high-level of energy, adaptability and flexibility necessary for this project.
- A prior knowledge and expertise in information technology is not required.
- Needs to be comfortable in the use of technology, but it is not necessary to be an expert.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) is suggested.
Required Certifications:
- Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.
- Epic Credentialing in designated Application.
