Responsibilities

The IT Helpdesk Intern will analyze historical and current help desk tickets to identify common issues, repetitive tasks, and opportunities where AI can provide value. Potential applications include:

• Using AI to help categorize and prioritize incoming tickets.
• Suggesting troubleshooting steps and potential solutions based on the ticket description.
• Searching existing IT documentation and knowledge-base content to help technicians resolve issues faster.
• Drafting responses to users for review before they are sent.
• Identifying recurring problems and trends across help desk tickets.
• Creating and improving knowledge-base articles from successfully resolved issues.
• Evaluating opportunities to automate routine Tier 1 support activities.
  
  

The intern will also assist with Tier 1 support tickets, workstation setup and deployment, user onboarding/offboarding, hardware and software troubleshooting, equipment inventory, and IT documentation. Don't expect to sit at a desk all day!

Qualifications

• Must be working towards an Information Technology (IT), Networking Administration, or Network Engineering degree at an accredited technical 2-year or 4-year college/university.
• Prefer second-year technical college or junior/senior status; all school years are encouraged to apply!
• Basic understanding of networking and Windows operating systems.
• Willing to work year-round (typically 20 hours per week during school year, then full-time during breaks and summer when possible.)
  
  

Hiring Process

Apply online by October 18, 2026. The internship hiring process consists of two interviews. Typically, the first interview is conducted at your college or university campus or over the phone. The second interview is at the J.W. Speaker corporate headquarters in Germantown, WI. All candidates will be notified of hiring decisions via e-mail or phone and validated with a formal offer letter around/before November 1, 2026. Occasionally, we may receive requests for interns after this date and will reach out to those interns who best fit our new hiring needs.
