Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Reynolds is seeking a Security Officer Senior to join our dedicated team of law enforcement and security professionals in a multi-campus academic environment. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
The Security Officer Senior will:
- Provide visible, proactive patrols to promote a safe and secure environment
- Maintain order and enforce state laws as well as college policies and procedures
- Serve as a professional and approachable presence, upholding the reputation of the department and the college through exceptional customer service
- Respond to emergencies and support campus operations with sound judgment and professionalism
Candidates must be willing and able to work flexible schedules: including morning, evening, night, or weekend shifts at any Reynolds campus location.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Considerable working knowledge of safety and security concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques
- Demonstrated skill in the use of security vehicles, communication equipment, alarm systems, and other types of security equipment
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations and remain calm under pressure
- Proficient in writing clear, factual incident reports
- Ability to explain and ensure compliance with college policies, rules, and state regulations
- Must hold a current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or have the ability to obtain one, with a satisfactory driving history
- Must hold or be able to obtain certification as a Campus Security Officer, as mandated by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS)
Additional Considerations:
Current CPR and First Aid Training Certification. Ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
