Warehouse Supervisor

J Polep Distribution Services in Chicopee, MA is seeking a 2nd shift Warehouse Supervisor to lead our fast-paced dock operation. The qualified candidate will coordinate all activities of dockworkers and other support personnel. The supervisor will provide planning and direction to ensure, damage-free, and safe loading of product. In addition, the supervisor will provide training, performance feedback, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary.  This is a 2nd shift position.  The standard work week is Sunday through Thursday.

Description:

This position will help with the oversight of day-to-day outbound operations for 2nd Shift, Sunday through Thursday, in our warehouse/distribution center, while enforcing all safety policies & practices, ensuring training and development of new and existing employees, and providing a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Follow and promote all safety initiatives
• Ensure all work is performed according to J Polep procedures and standards for dock operations
• Mentor, coach and train/ cross-train employees; provide consistent feedback concerning strengths and areas in need of improvement
• Directly supervise all activities of dockworkers and support personnel engaged in loading trucks and trailers
• Coordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job duties
• Assist in the loading and unloading of trailers
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to sixty (60) pounds
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Strong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environment
• 2 years of supervisor experience
• Must possess demonstrated leadership ability
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of operations
• Must be able to read and clearly communicate in English.  Spanish is a plus.

Skills:

• General computer skills - Microsoft Office, Outlook
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skill
