- Coordinates operation and maintenance of buses, District vehicles, equipment, storage and repair facilities. Inspect automotive equipment and schedules needed repair or service work.
- Comply with Arizona and District policies pertaining to transportation issues.
- Maintains up-to-date route files on all buses.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluation performance, rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing and resolving complaints.
- Develop schedules, assigns and directs work.
- Assists with preparing, distributing and monitoring bus routes (including bus stop times).
- Oversees all routes, bus loads, safety issues, welfare and limitations of all students and drivers. Works with Routing Coordinator to adjust routes as necessary.
- Responds appropriately to parent, staff and community concerns regarding bus routes, bus stops, student behavior and student safety. Works with Principal or designee when necessary.
- Prepares correspondence for students, parents or District employees.
- Works with vendors to purchase vehicles, equipment, supplies and repairs. Directs recording of expenses and analyzes purchase and repair cost to control expenditures.
- Compiles and submits required Local, State and Federal reports.
- Arranges disposal of waste materials in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Plans and directs safety campaigns. Prepares and distributes Transportation Department Handbook.
- Procures state required certificates of title and arrange for registrations and state inspections of buses and vehicles. Ensures insurance coverage is current on all vehicles.
- Checks and sign timecards.
- Acts as Dispatcher, Routing Coordinator or Bus Driver when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Bus Inventory Report - AZ Dept. of Education, School Finance
- Driver Certification & Training Reports - AZ Dept. of Public Safety (DPS)
- Drug Testing - DPS
- Arizona Use Fuel T24 Reports - AZ Dept. of Transportation
- Tier Two Emergency & Hazardous Chemical Inventory - AZ Emergency Response Committee
- Directly supervises 30 employees in the Transportation Department.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with District procedures and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Must have or be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, through Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year accredited college, university or technical school; 3-5 years of experience or training in the management of large fleet of vehicles; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must meet all the qualifications of a Bus Driver.
- Ability to manage, supervise and motivate employees.
- Ability to assess concerns and complaints of students and parents and proceed appropriately.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors, subordinates, other employees, parents and the general public.
- Must possess excellent communication skills.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as mileage, discounts, proportions, etc.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy manuals.
- Must be able to write routine reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Sufficient rudimentary knowledge of bus mechanical operations to describe problems to mechanic.
- Must have adequate computer skills, the ability to read maps and to use the VersaTrans routing system.
