What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Assembly Technician position at J.L. Lucas Machinery?
J.L. Lucas Machinery is a Machinery rebuilder and new equipment manufacturer for the precision grinding industry. Our machine builders start with the dismantling and repair of machine components and see them through to completion. We also perform outside service and machine installations.
Core Responsibilities: Read and Interpret Documentation: Analyze mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams, and bills of materials (BOM) to guide assembly.
Mechanical and Electrical Assembly: Use hand and power tools to build our double disc grinding machines which involve mounting components using drills, taps, and fasteners. Make hydraulic hose assemblies and bend tubing for air and lubrication systems.
Precision Alignment: Measure and adjust components, axes, and geometrical alignments to meet exact manufacturing tolerances.
Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct functional tests, diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues, and use diagnostic tools like multimeters to verify proper operation.
Collaboration: Work alongside engineers, other machine trades people, and members of management to resolve machine build challenges and use safe work practices.
Key Qualifications and Skills Mechanical Aptitude: Strong hands-on experience with mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems. Ability to interpret complex assembly drawings and schematics. Safe and effective use of common hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers)
Experience: 5 Years of relevant mechanical experience, experienced automotive mechanics, automation specialists and general mechanics are encouraged to apply.
Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
