Role Overview
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will provide technical support to Production, assist customers with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), launch new products into production, and identify/implement process improvements within the Wheeling, IL facility. Experience within an ISO13485 facility is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Production with machine setups, trouble shooting, operator training, and other functions.
- Identify, implement, and document process improvements including cycle time, tool life, process capability, and automation.
- Select, qualify, and launch new equipment in the factory.
- Collaborate with Engineering on part updates, machine layouts, and programs.
Customer Interface & DFM
- Collaborate with customers to suggest modifications to customer specifications to improve cost, quality, and/or lead time.
- Communicate design changes and updates to internal teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, working closely with manufacturing teams.
New Part Introduction (NPI)
- Assign accurate costs to new parts based on materials, labor, and production complexity.
- Generate prints, tool layouts, and programs on newly awarded business.
- Develop detailed routing steps for new parts to guide production teams.
- Train manufacturing functions on new parts.
