Senior Trial Attorney – Civil Defense Litigation

Position Overview

A well-established New York defense litigation firm is seeking an accomplished Trial Attorney with substantial courtroom experience to join its growing practice.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to independently manage civil defense matters and serve as first-chair trial counsel. This is a hands-on role offering significant case ownership, consistent courtroom involvement, and direct collaboration with firm leadership. The firm is focused on finding an experienced attorney who can step in and assume meaningful responsibility from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage civil defense litigation matters from inception through trial and resolution
• Serve as first-chair trial counsel
• Conduct depositions, hearings, conferences, and court appearances
• Draft and argue motions and oversee pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation
• Develop case strategy and communicate directly with clients and carriers
• Collaborate closely with firm leadership on complex matters

Ideal Background

• Substantial civil defense litigation experience
• Proven first-chair trial experience
• Strong deposition, motion practice, legal writing, and courtroom skills
• Ability to independently manage a significant caseload
• Sound judgment and strong client communication skills
• Admission to the New York Bar required
