We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Billing Specialist to join our dynamic legal team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the billing processes for legal services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will help streamline our revenue cycle management, process client invoicing on a monthly basis, and maintain precise financial records. Responsibilities
- Prepare and process detailed client invoices using various accounting software such as Timeslips, CLIO, One Inc., Bottomline, Legal X, and other similar legal and insurance-based platforms.
- Review and verify billing entries for accuracy, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, as well as numerous insurance carriers billing guidelines.
- Conduct account reconciliation to ensure consistency between billing records and financial statements.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on overdue payments and resolving billing discrepancies through effective negotiation and customer service skills.
- Maintain meticulous records of journal entries, revenue cycle management activities, and account analysis to support audit readiness.
- Collaborate with legal teams to understand billing nuances related to legal terminology, coding, and other specialized legal billing procedures.
- Assist with data entry tasks related to accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Handle the processing of vendor invoices and payments, and providing the same to the client for payment and satisfaction.
Skills
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Timeslips, CLIO, One Inc., Bottomline, Legal X, and other similar legal and insurance-based platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with legal terminology, coding, and revenue cycle management within the legal sector.
- Excellent analysis skills to interpret financial data accurately and identify discrepancies promptly.
- Effective negotiation skills combined with exceptional phone etiquette and customer service abilities for handling client inquiries or disputes.
- Ability to perform precise data entry using 10 key typing skills while maintaining high accuracy levels.
- Strong understanding of technical accounting principles related to legal accounting or corporate accounting environments.
