What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator/Warehouse Worker position at J.D Brokers & Forwarding Co.?
Overview
Warehouse Employee / Cargo Handling Specialist
We are seeking an experienced warehouse employee with a strong background in freight handling, container loading, trailer loading, and flat rack cargo operations. This role is best suited for someone who has hands-on experience in a busy warehouse, freight forwarding, logistics, or cargo environment.
The ideal candidate must understand how to safely and efficiently load, unload, segregate, secure, and stage cargo for domestic and international shipments. This is not an entry-level position. Applicants should already be comfortable working around containers, trailers, forklifts, palletized cargo, oversized freight, and breakbulk cargo.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload ocean containers, trailers, and flat racks
- Properly stage, organize, and segregate cargo by shipment, warehouse receipt, or destination
- Handle palletized cargo, loose cargo, oversized cargo, and breakbulk freight
- Assist with blocking, bracing, strapping, wrapping, and securing cargo
- Verify cargo counts, labels, markings, and basic shipment details
- Operate warehouse equipment safely, including forklifts and pallet jacks
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
- Follow instructions from warehouse supervisors and communicate shipment issues clearly
- Assist with container inspections, trailer loading plans, and cargo placement when needed
Required Experience
- Prior warehouse experience is required
- Must have experience loading containers, trailers, and/or flat racks
- Must understand basic cargo handling, staging, and warehouse organization
- Forklift experience strongly preferred
- Experience with freight forwarding, logistics, import/export, or bonded warehouse operations is a plus
- Must be able to lift, move, and handle cargo safely
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who does not need basic warehouse training and can quickly understand how cargo should be received, staged, loaded, and secured. We are looking for someone with real hands-on warehouse and freight experience, not someone looking for their first warehouse job.
Note to Applicants
Please apply only if you have direct experience loading containers, trailers, flat racks, or handling freight/cargo in a warehouse environment. Candidates without relevant cargo or warehouse experience may not be considered.
