EXPERIENCED ROOFING PROFESSIONALS WANTED

Actual roofing installation experience is required. This is not an entry-level position or a general construction project management role.

J. Carnes & Son Roofing, a well-established and growing roofing and exterior remodeling company serving New Hampshire and Southern Maine, is looking for an experienced Roofing Field Supervisor to join our team.

We are seeking someone who truly understands roofing—from tear-off and roof preparation to flashing details, proper installation techniques, and final quality inspections.

This position involves overseeing subcontractor roofing crews, ensuring installations meet our quality standards, communicating directly with homeowners, and making sure every project is completed professionally.

The majority of our projects involve residential asphalt shingle and standing seam metal roofing, with some commercial roofing installations.

We are not looking for someone to learn roofing from scratch. We are looking for someone who already knows roofing and is ready to take ownership of installation quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Roofing Installation Oversight

• Supervise subcontractor roofing crews throughout installations.
• Conduct pre-installation reviews and communicate job expectations to crews.
• Verify proper installation of underlayment, ice and water shield, starter strips, shingles, flashing, ventilation, and other roofing components.
• Identify improper installation practices and require corrections before work proceeds.
• Inspect roof decking and identify deteriorated or damaged materials requiring replacement.
• Ensure work complies with applicable building codes and manufacturer installation requirements.
• Oversee site protection, job-site cleanliness, and final cleanup.

Customer Communication

• Serve as the primary on-site contact for homeowners during roof installations.
• Explain installation procedures, timelines, and unexpected conditions.
• Address customer questions and concerns professionally.
• Communicate necessary additional work and coordinate change orders with management.
• Conduct final walkthroughs and ensure customer satisfaction.

Project Coordination & Quality Control

• Visit and oversee multiple roofing installation sites as assigned.
• Coordinate with our production team regarding materials, scheduling, and installation progress.
• Conduct regular quality-control inspections throughout each project.
• Document installation progress, existing conditions, and completed work with photographs.
• Utilize AccuLynx, CompanyCam, and other company systems for project documentation.
• Identify and resolve installation issues before they become costly callbacks.
• Maintain company standards for safety, workmanship, professionalism, and job-site organization.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on roofing installation experience preferred, with substantial equivalent experience considered.
• Strong knowledge of residential asphalt shingle roofing systems and installation methods.
• Experience as a roofing foreman, crew leader, roofing supervisor, or similar roofing field professional.
• Ability to recognize improper roofing installation and flashing practices.
• Thorough understanding of roof preparation, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, and waterproofing principles.
• Experience supervising or coordinating roofing crews.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple job sites and resolve installation challenges.
• Comfortable using smartphones, taking job-site photographs, and learning company software.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

General construction management experience without direct roofing installation knowledge does not meet the requirements for this position.

Additional Experience That's a Plus

• GAF roofing systems and manufacturer installation specifications.
• Standing seam metal roofing installations.
• EPDM, TPO, or other commercial roofing systems.
• Skylight installations and flashing.
• Roofing-related carpentry and decking repairs.
• Experience using AccuLynx or CompanyCam.
• Previous roofing quality-control experience.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to reward experienced roofing professionals who take pride in their work.

• Base Salary: $75,000–$80,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
• Performance Bonuses: Current supervisors average approximately $15,000–$20,000 annually in bonuses.
• Potential Total Compensation: Approximately $90,000–$100,000 annually, depending on performance. Bonuses are not guaranteed.
• Health Insurance: 100% of employee-only health insurance premiums paid by the company.
