Store Manager

J.C. Newman Cigar Co. was founded in 1895. With our headquarters, factory and museum located in historic Ybor City (Tampa), Florida, J.C Newman Cigar Company is the oldest family-owned cigar manufacturer and distributor of premium cigars in the country and operates the last cigar factory in the Cigar City of Tampa.

Our historic building has been restored to include a three-level cigar museum, interactive theater, hand rolling room, factory store, and private event space. Our goal is to attract visitors from around the world just as wineries, breweries, and distilleries do and allow us to tell the story of Cigar City and the art of cigarmaking. Visiting our factory is like walking back in time, creating a uniquely Tampa experience for guests.

In mid-2026 J.C. Newman Cigar Company will expand its visitor experience across the street from El Reloj with the restoration of the historic Sanchez Y Haya building. This exciting development will include Elaine’s, a fine dining restaurant and bar; Stanford’s, a cigar club and lounge; and The Inn at El Reloj, an eleven-room boutique hotel – further enhancing our mission to preserve and share Tampa’s cigar heritage.

The Factory Store Manager will manage all aspects of the store’s operations, including Stanford's Cigar Club, encompassing sales, inventory, customer service, and employee performance. The Store Manager will assist guests with their purchases, answer questions and make tour reservations, all while providing an outstanding experience for our guests. Becoming an expert in the Company’s history, historical industry facts and cigar knowledge, the Factory Store Manager will work closely with the Hospitality team to provide exceptional experience for each guest.

The Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities are as follows:

• High school graduate; having a college degree is preferred
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English; bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus
• Possess a passion for exceptional customer service
• Have a minimum of three to five years’ prior experience working where merchandising, inventory management, and product ordering were key responsibilities
• Have prior experience leading a team of associates
• Use effective communication skills, be articulate, and have a pleasant demeanor and attitude
• Be available to work special events where schedule could include evenings and weekends
