J BLACK FINANCIAL GROUP, is a growing boutique wealth management firm focused on delivering comprehensive, relationship-driven financial planning. We are seeking an Investment Operations Manager to lead and enhance the execution, structure, and consistency of our investment operations.
This role is central to ensuring the investment operations runs efficiently, accurately, and at a high standard. It is best suited for someone who is detailed-oriented, takes ownership, builds systems, and ensures that both client experience and internal processes operate seamlessly. You will work closely with advisors, team members and clients to manage workflows, facilitate execution, and continuously improve how investment operations are delivered across the firm.
The firm provides comprehensive, fee-based financial planning and investment advisory services, including retirement planning, risk management, and long-term wealth strategy.
Investment Operations Leadership:
• Own and manage the day-to-day execution of investment operations across the firm.
• Oversee account onboarding, asset movement, trading, and ongoing maintenance to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Create, implement, and refine processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency.
• Identify gaps in workflows and proactively implement solutions.
• Ensure all investment-related activities align with firm standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Client & Advisor Support:
• Serve as a key partner to advisors in executing investment strategies and client service needs.
• Oversee and support client onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and professional experience.
• Collaborate with advisors to prepare investment-related materials for client meetings.
• Act as a point of escalation for complex client service or operational issues.
• Ensure client communications and service requests related to investments are handled accurately and promptly.
Execution & Trading:
• Trading activities across portfolios, including mutual funds, ETFs, individual securities, and alternative investments.
• Ensure trades are executed accurately, timely, and in alignment with client portfolios and firm strategy.
• Monitor asset transfers and ensure proper follow-through to completion.
• Maintain high standards for documentation, reconciliation, and operational accuracy.
Systems, Process & Data Management:
• Maintain and optimize systems such as NetX360, Envestnet, Morningstar Advisor Workstation and other investment platforms.
• Ensure accurate client data, account records, and documentation across systems.
• Develop and standardize workflows to support scalability as the firm grows.
• Partner with leadership to improve reporting, operational dashboards, and visibility into key metrics.
Team Collaboration & Accountability:
•Work collaboratively across advisors, operations, and administrative team members.
•Help drive accountability by ensuring deadlines, deliverables, and workflows are completed on time.
•Contribute to the overall growth and direction of the firm.
•Support training and development of team members involved in investment operations.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of equivalent investment professional experience.
• Industry licenses: Series 7, 66 (or 63 & 65 equivalent).
• Proficiency with Pershing NetX360 platform.
• Strong understanding of investment operations, trading, and account management.
• Proven ability to management multiple priorities and execute with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Clear and professional communication skills.
• Ability to take ownership and execute without constant oversight.
• High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and accountability.
• Growth mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred:
• Accredited Portfolio Management Advisor (APMA) Designation or willingness to obtain.
• Proficiency with ENV2, Morningstar Advisor Workstation, and CRM systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Experience building or improving operational processes within a growing firm.
