Title: Exceptional Student Services Facilitator
Qualifications:
- Valid Louisiana teacher’s certificate; master’s degree preferred
- Special education certification preferred
- Five years of teaching experience or related field
Reports to: Exceptional Student Services Director or Designee
Job Goal: To build and strengthen special education and regular education teachers’ ability to design and implement standards-based lessons through team teaching, staff development, collaborations, modeling, individual coaching and assessment.
Term: 9 months teacher salary schedule

Performance Responsibilities for Facilitator of Exceptional Student Services
I. To research, share, and model effective teaching strategies, including problem-solving and higher-order thinking skills.
II. To observe and critique teaching methods, assist teachers in implementing research-based teaching strategies and retrain when necessary
III. To meet with teachers individually and collectively during school hours and/or after school for professional development opportunities
IV. To work with general education teachers to identify students having learning difficulties especially in areas of language arts and math
V. To provide job-embedded support and guidance in pre-referral activities and interventions to regular education teachers
VI. To develop avenues of contact with parents of students needing additional help
VII. To plan and implement tutorial activities for students in language arts and math VIII. To effectively analyze and use test data
IX. To help teachers develop appropriate assessments
X. To exhibit professional ethics and to consistently demonstrate self-direction
XI. To follow state and local school board policies
XII. To perform any additional duties assigned by the ESS Director or designee
