We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
- Plan and develop menu items that meet quality standards and customer preferences
- Ensure all food handling and preparation adhere to strict food safety regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Source fresh ingredients and manage inventory levels effectively
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to deliver seamless service during peak hours
- Monitor food quality during preparation and presentation to ensure consistency
- Assist in training junior staff on proper sushi techniques, knife skills, and food safety practices
- Participate in catering events or special menu offerings as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within fine dining or Japanese cuisine establishments
- Strong culinary skills with expertise in food preparation, cooking, and food handling specific to sushi and sashimi
- Excellent knife skills and knowledge of traditional sushi techniques
- Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and maintaining high standards of quality
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation procedures
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
- Previous restaurant or food industry experience preferred, especially in catering or serving roles
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for culinary arts with an emphasis on authentic Japanese cuisine and attention to detail
